Like our recent cruise we will play in the Restaurant Moderno on deck 8, direct at The Waterfront. Directly at the ships stern with an unique view to the sea or simply play your game outside. The Norwegian Getaway is similar to the Norwegian Escape which brought us from Southampton to Miami in 2015. Following some impressions of the special atmosphere:
Connect with the sea on The Waterfront, our quarter-mile oceanfront promenade. Discover a new restaurant or bar each day and night! Step out into the breeze at Ocean Blue, a casual take-away with seaside eats. Dine oceanside at La Cucina and enjoy delicious lobster fettuccine. Or simply enjoy a refreshing mojito with friends.

AMSTERDAM - New In Chess magazine and leading chess travel organizer Schachreisen have joined forces and will organize a New In Chess Tournament at Sea. It will be the first live event of New In Chess, a magazine that is read by club players in 116 countries. ,,This is an opportunity to bring members of our community of readers together in a wonderful ambiance'', says Remmelt Otten, publishing director of New In Chess. ,,We know that our readers are very interested in great 'chess travel' destinations. It can't get much better than playing chess with a view of the Atlantic Ocean and the Carribean.''
Jörg Hickl, CEO of Schachreisen, has been successfully organizing chess trips for more than a decade. The New In Chess Tournament at Sea will be played in October 2017 at the Norwegian Getaway, one of the most modern and luxurious Cruise Ships in the World. It will be a 7-round Elo-rated event with side program as part of a 14-day Cruise from Copenhagen to Miami via the Azores and the Caribbean.
,,The combination of chess and a cruise works perfectly'', says the German Grandmaster Jörg Hickl, author of the bestselling book The Power of Pawns. ,,Although some players find it difficult to keep concentrated in a playing hall with breathtaking views.''
